Jean Plushner, 93, of Apex, NC formerly of Cranston, RI and Lake Worth FL, passed away after a long, beautiful life, Saturday, May 27, 2017.

Jean was born on August 19, 1923 in Brooklyn, N.Y. She was the wife of the late Rubin Plushner for 66 years. They met around 1946 at Rhodes on the Pawtuxet, a dance hall with one of the best dance floors in Rhode Island. She loved dancing, traveling, and getting dressed up for almost any occasion. Each year her husband would take her on a special vacation, usually a cruise, and sing her a special anniversary song, written just for her. In November of 2012, shortly after her husband's death, she moved to Apex, NC. and was a resident of Rex Rehab and Nursing Home until she passed. Her son and daughter-in-law lived close by and visited her often. She loved to play bingo twice a week and was a lucky player. The nursing home staff would always call her the "princess" since she dressed up each day in fancy jewelry and clothing, and loved painting her nails and putting on makeup before leaving the room. Her daughters, Susyn and Phae Plushner, would visit from their home state and take her out to the cheese cake factory to celebrate Mother's day or her birthday, an event she always looked forward to.

She was a beautiful, strong, and caring mother who loved her family and always put their needs ahead of her own. She will always be remembered and deeply missed.

Jean was preceded in death by her husband, Rubin Plushner, parents Benjamin and Fannie Cooperman, sisters Betty, Gussie, Rose, Mary and brother Sam Cooperman.

She is survived by children Neal of North Carolina, Susyn of Colorado,

Phae of Rhode Island, grandson Julian of Rhode Island, and daughter-in-law Peggy of North Carolina.

A private service was held on Monday, May 29 for family members only.
